This isn't really going to be a column so much as it will be a blog. I get asked so often by so many models about wardrobe and make up choices. I used to work in film as a wardrobe assistant and am also a freelance MUA. So, since my last column, I was asked to join with a photography studio and modeling production company. They liked my ideas and concepts, and knowledge about the industry so much, they made me partner and a board member. I will also be the art director for both companies.
I profile the model or whoever we are shooting, and see what types of things they are interested in. If they are a model, I look at their port. I see what it has, and what else it needs. I am all about diversity. If you guys are reading my columns, then you already know this.
I am going to throw a few concepts for shoots at you, and tell you how to pull them off....
Pinup Garage Scene
if youre going for a pin up look... then you need ur hair pulled back. bandanna as a head band. try and pull ur bangs forward, then take a barrel curl and pin it in place. go lighter on the make up. play up the eyebrows a little darker, go for a blue red lipstick, and opt for a cat eye look with liquid liner. then as far as eyeshadow, use a very pale ivory or light pink. it will make your eyes look brighter. look at some pin up make up styles. You will want to wear a wife beater, with a cutsie bra that is visibly sticking out. It can be polka dot, black, or anything retro. Khaki Dickies
